How to harden Firefox in 7 easy steps

- Step 1Stay Current: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Help > Check for Updates". If any updates are available, click on "Download & Install Now". Restart Firefox to allow any changes to take affect.
- Step 2Harden JavaScript: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Tools > Options". Click on the "Content" tab. Access the advanced JavaScript settings, by clicking on the "Advanced" button next to "Enable JavaScript". Under where it says "Allow scripts to:", uncheck everything and click on "OK".
- Step 3Disable Java: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Tools > Options". Click on the "Content" tab. Uncheck the "Enable Java" option. Click on "OK" to continue.
- Step 4Add-on Warnings: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Tools > Options". Click on the "Security" tab. Make sure the "Warn me when sites try to install add-ons" option is enabled. Click on "OK" to continue.
- Step 5Unused Add-ons: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Tools > Add-ons". Simply click on the "Disable" button next to each extension or plugin that you don't use.
- Step 6Block Pop-ups: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Tools > Options". Click on the "Content" tab. Make sure the "Block pop-up windows" option is enabled. Click on "OK" to continue.
- Step 7Private Data: from the upper Firefox menu, click on "Tools > Options". Click on the "Privacy" tab. Under the "Private Data" section, make sure the "Always clear my private data when I close Firefox" option is enabled. Next, click on "Settings". Under where it says "When I ask Firefox to clear my private data, it should erase:", make sure all options are enabled and click on "OK".
